The Meaning Behind Marilyn James Health and Beauty

Marilyn James Health & Beauty  is more than a salon, it’s a lifestyle brand that focuses on natural beauty, feeling beautiful at every stage in your life, and empowering women to always feel their best!

My name is Michelle, and I am the owner and founder of Marilyn James. I’m often asked, how did you come up with the name “Marilyn James”? The name is inspired by my parents.

Growing up, my mother Susan idolized Marilyn Monroe. Her blonde bombshell beauty, her confidence and playful attitude epitomized to her what beauty really was. My mother passed away unexpectedly when I was 14. Marilyn Monroe has always represented a strong connection to my mother.

As I get older, certain memories of her fade –  but our connection through this timeless icon never will. The reason I chose Marilyn as part of the business name is because it’s elegant and embodies timeless beauty. When someone says the name “Marilyn James”, I want them to think of the timeless icons Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe, Ava Gardner, Sophia Loren, and Dorothy Dandrige to name a few.

The second part of the name comes from my father, James, the strongest man I know. He’s survived losing a wife and a son. He is a decorated Vietnam vet, aretired fire fighter of 37 years and my hero! I’m the woman I am today because of the strength he’s shown me and given me. It’s pretty simple –  James represents strength.

Marilyn James Health and Beauty is about bringing out ones inner beauty and inner strength. Beauty and strength combined is what makes dreams possible. My brand is a reminder of the amazing examples I have in my parents to always go after my dreams.
